The Revolution I Would Not Sell! A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen!

The Revolution I Would Not Sell is a continuation to "I Have A System That Proved To Be Working Right! That system has taken shape in my mind from the first long revolution in Eritrea to acquire recognition after the international injustice that annexed it to Ethiopia in the 1940s. The second page starts here and it may continue to other pages, as the historical lessons are deep, hard-earned, and far from finished. So, the second page continues onto When Keren Mountains in Eritrea Sang: A Leader Without Title and Ink Between Borders - Exile by Principles: Peace Unheard!

The Revolution I Would Not Sell: Veteran activist & journalist Khalid Osman's journalistic engagement with the Eritrean revolution through the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF) since the seventies as a journalist who knows everything about the Eritrean struggle since the 1940s. The picture was the most distributed one that works as a symbol of the Eritrean national struggle.

The Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF) stood apart from every other liberation movement across Africa and even beyond. Unlike many, it never relied on foreign powers to fight its battles or reclaim its homeland from Ethiopian control. In fact, the EPLF was instrumental in supporting the Tigrayan People's Liberation Front (TPLF), and together they not only achieved Eritrea's independence but also overcame the most formidable army in Africa: the forces of Mengistu Haile Mariam, backed by Soviet military experts.

During a key victory in the 1980s, EPLF fighters captured several of those experts. Abdullah Jabir shared the full account with me in Al-Watan newspaper, recounting how the movement reached out to Moscow to challenge the narrative, clarifying that Ethiopia's regime was far from the communist ideals it claimed to represent.

🕊️ Kuwait, Late 1970s–1980s: Revolution, Rhythm, and Responsibility!

The melodies were beautiful. The dances vibrant. I was invited to attend events hosted by various Eritrean political factions during their gatherings abroad. Many welcomed me with coffee and slogans. Some hoped I'd write something favorable. But I didn't.

I was a journalist not a megaphone.

At the heart of my silence was a choice. While I respected the cultural expressions and hospitality of those factions, I could not ethically elevate movements that, to my understanding, gambled with Eritrea's cause for political currency. Many were embraced and funded by powerful Arab regimes. Their allegiance was blurred. Their mission, to me, felt compromised.

My loyalty went to the Eritrean People's Liberation Front (EPLF). Not because they were flawless, but because they were focused. Grounded. They drew their strength from within... from the villages and mountains of Eritrea, not from the diplomatic backrooms of foreign patrons.

✍️ Publishing with Purpose

At that time, the EPLF had almost no media exposure in the region. None of the Eritrean factions had solid footing in Kuwaiti media. But I opened that gate, not for applause, but for alignment.

I began publishing writings by Al-Amin Mohammed Saeid, who would later become a vice-leader after independence and of course articles by other Eritrean writers. We shared long conversations, sometimes over breakfast, sometimes walking to get coffee outside the central office of the People's Front for Democracy and Justice (PFDJ). Another colleague, Ahmed Saied, worked on publications in Paris called Adulis and contributed to this growing current of independent Eritrean thought.

Through my network, I gave space to the voices I believed the public deserved to hear voices of commitment, not calculation.

🔎 Ethics Beyond "Both Sides"

Some might argue that as a journalist, I had a duty to cover every faction equally. But neutrality, in moments of national struggle, must be weighed against principle. I knew what I saw: groups using foreign funds not for liberation, but for leverage.

Others crafting positions that sought privilege over people, factions who turned their gaze outward for funding and support, often reshaping their rhetoric to please their sponsors, not their people. They even described the EPLF not as another liberation front, but as Christian sometimes and Communist sometimes to restrict its existence in a conservative Arabic and Islamic area.

Some sold Eritrea's cause for personal or ideological gain. That's not a story I could tell with truth in my hands. I couldn't dignify that with ink. Journalism is not a theater of balance. It is a discipline of discernment.

I wasn't afraid to attend their events. But I knew the difference between covering a song and endorsing a mission. And when history is still unfolding, your coverage becomes part of the outcome.

📣 What I Chose to Amplify

The voices I published were not the loudest in Kuwait, but they were among the most grounded. Writers like Al-Amin Mohammed Saeid didn't write from comfort. They wrote from clarity, forged in hardship, honed through decades of guerrilla experience and community learning. God bless his soul.

I amplified them not because they belonged to the EPLF, but because they spoke from within the revolution, not above it. They didn't trade slogans for sponsorships. They were committed to the liberation of Eritrea in word, deed, and humility.

💼 Journalism Without Compromise

As my network in Kuwait grew, I saw more invitations arrive, banquets, talks, music nights hosted by other factions. I never turned them away as a guest, but I stayed silent on the page. I couldn't act as a recorder of contradictions.

Yes, I was a journalist. But I didn't believe in writing for the sake of writing. When the stakes are that high, reporting becomes a form of allegiance. And I chose my allegiance carefully: to Eritrea, not its opportunists.

My silence on some factions was also a signal to let future historians know that not every invitation deserved attendance in ink.

🧭 The Long EchoEstablishing Humanitarian Framework

When independence finally arrived in 1991, I was proud. But I wasn't surprised. I had long placed my trust in the only movement that didn't treat revolution as performance.

And even after, I remained independent, not aligned to posts, parties, or ceremonial titles. Still, I attended annual New Year celebrations at the Asmara Expo, not for prestige, but for principle. I wanted to observe the development from within and help shape it through my journalism and environmental advocacy.

For years, I was the only attendee from outside the ruling elite, until a British researcher and journalist named Jenny Street, assigned to the central office of the ruling party, joined those ranks. Her office was beside mine in the central office of the PFDJ.

From that office, I consistently voiced criticism of the ruling party whenever I saw things going wrong even in informal moments over coffee with the Vice, Al-Amin Mohammed Saeid, and the Director of Organizational Affairs, Abdullah Jabir, in their offices.

As an editor of Hedri magazine, I didn't just edit, I refined articles across languages, including those written in Tigrinya, and elevated the essence of editorial work to help my colleagues become better writers.

I also challenged the magazine's editorial direction. For example, one issue was meant to feature only an interview with the president. I opposed this approach and suggested including a variety of articles instead. When they refused and handed me the full interview to edit, I discovered numerous flaws and corrected it professionally. They insisted: "Leave the president's words untouched." I advised Amin, the manager of the president's office, that publishing the interview in that state would amount to a scandal.

In the end, they disregarded my efforts and published the entire issue with all its mistakes. After its release, I heard that several leaders asked, "Where is Khalid Osman?" When I met them in their homes over tea, I explained everything, every step and every decision.

Coffee, Conflict, and a Cause: The Genesis of Amal Trust!

I had said before that for many years, I was the only participant from outside the ruling elite attending the New Year celebration hosted by the ruling party at the Expo in Asmara. Later on, Jenny Street, a British journalist and researcher appointed to the central office of the party, attended the event. Her office, was located right next to mine at the PFDJ headquarters.

When Alex de Waal visited her, Jenny had the foresight to introduce him to me. Eritrea had long refused formal involvement from NGOs, but I saw an opportunity to support humanitarian efforts without compromising sovereignty. I helped facilitate his organization's entry into the country, opening a cautious but critical path forward.

Alex de Waal, a distinguished researcher and co-founder of African Rights, had dedicated his career to documenting human rights issues across Africa. He later sent me collections of works published by his organization, including Food and Power in Sudan and Facing Genocide: The Nuba of Sudan, books that illustrated the complex interplay of survival, governance, and violence on our continent.

These publications were sent together with his colleague Johans Akol, a Southern Sudanese advocate well known for his opposition to the dictatorial regime of Omer al-Bashir. The intention was to sell the books and raise funds for the organization, but I also freely distributed many copies to various associations and trade unions, believing that spreading knowledge was itself a form of resistance.

We first spoke at a café-restaurant near the EPLF's central office. I expressed my concern for what would unfold along the Eritrean–Sudanese border. Sudanese movements have started that time. The region demanded a humanitarian framework that respected the realities of conflict and displacement. That conversation laid the seeds for the creation of Amal Trust, as I connected Alex with Abdulaziz Khalid Osman, the leader of the Sudanese Alliance Forces (SAF), a movement that I published and distributed its magazine. Not long from that time, this movement in the southeastern parts of the Blue Nile was successfully liberating a territory.

I was never appointed to lead Amal Trust, nor did I want to be. Had they asked, I would have declined respectfully. My commitment was always to remain independent, to preserve the clarity and transparency required of a journalist and activist.

I carried that clarity into my environmental work, my political media projects, and my critiques of power throughout the Horn of Africa, still guided by principle, not proximity.

Because once you decide not to sell a revolution, you realize you must also never sell your truth.

🔧 Correcting Transition When Personal Interests Rewrite Public Affairs!

And this one... more than "From Editor to Reformer: A Fight Against Personal Gain in Public Office". It's Opening Reflection: The Fade of Revolutionary Spirit!

Just a few years after independence, I noticed a troubling shift. The ideals that fueled our revolution were already being overshadowed by personal interests. One of the most respected fighters, Abdullah Jabir, tried to correct a misstep committed by a fellow comrade: appointing a relative, as editor-in-chief of a regional magazine in the Barka region.

I noted this. This wasn't just a lapse in judgment. It symbolized a creeping trend where revolutionary integrity was being traded for favoritism. No one has taken care of that note. One of the most revolutionary fighters who was Abdullah Jaber tried to continue to correct a mistake done by one of his comrades when he assumed his position as the governor of Baka region, by giving his relative the position of the editor-in-chief in a magazine published for the region.

Case in Focus: The Barka Magazine Incident

I have been chosen to reedit all of the staff that have been written by that editor-in-chief who was a woman and I stopped the publishing of the magazine while it was in the printing house of Adolis. In addition to the language mistakes in the materials, there was not any editing efforts and most of the articles have taken the name of the editor-in-chief.

I explained all of that and I added: This is not a magazine for the region, but it is her own magazine, so how could that girl appointed to take this position while she even didn't know how the magazine of a region should have been written. The response too my commentary was that she was graduated from the journalism faculty in Cairo. I laughed and commented: Are you saying that journalism college in the university is the bad college!

Unwritten System Achieved Planting More than 5 Million Martyr's Trees!

Although everything in my system has been carried out by the people prior to these years, the government just like any revolution that get into power assuming governmental position, the spirit of revolution vanishes.

Expecting that, as I have witnessed in the development of many revolution, I start my system, to say to those figures in the ruling power, the power chair shouldn't have changed the revolution mind. The progress of my system and the implementation of the first project in my system was primarily a message to show the revolution how the ruling system could be better by keeping going with the same spirit of the revolution.

The same system I have has succeeded to achieve planting more than 5 million trees in Eritrea, the one that I called the "Eritrean Martyr's Tree" to strengthen national values and sustain the environment not only in Eritrea, but the entire Horn of Africa, which can also sustain global environment. You can read about it in good details on few sections included within the Global Dynamics sections.

This system - proven not only in principle but in practice - has achieved many goals. It has exposed corruption, preserved silenced histories, and empowered communities excluded from conventional narratives. But more than that, it has laid the very foundation upon which "Freedom, Earth, and the Echo of Unheard Revolution!" is built.

The foundation of these sections began with a deep dive into historical eras, tracing the threads of recurring narratives that continue to shape our present moment. This exploration led naturally to the Conventional Narratives Section, where I examined how certain dominant stories have played a direct role in the unraveling of Sudan’s socio-political fabric.

That approach paved the way toward the next layer of inquiry four interlinked pages that engage directly with a specific Eritrean topic. Each of these titles can be found within the broader framework of the Global Dynamics section, forming a constellation of memory, insight, and interconnected resistance.

Be sure to let me know that you've read "The Revolution I Would Not Sell - A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen", as well as the Global Dynamics. Show me that you understood what you read about the crises of the world along with the highlighted solutions through "I Have A System That Proved To Be Working Right" and would like to create, or join one of the global masses associations. Let me know more about that you have learned well and so you decided to join and create the ERA OF THE MASSES.

Sign up for "Intelligentsia Multimedia Newspaper Revolutionizes Knowledge" by filling the form on this section of the "The Revolution I Would Not Sell - A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen" and submit it. This is a double-opt-in list to prevent someone who knows your email address from subscribing you, without having you to know about it. Check an email with a confirmation link, I'll send to you. If you didn't find it in your incoming emails box, please check your junk folder and move it to your inbox folder.

Forward HOA Political Scene to your friends, including the link of "The Revolution I Would Not Sell - A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen", as follows: https://www.hoa-politicalscene.com/the-revolution-i-would-not-sell.html. Motivate them to read it and join the pioneering solutions to global crises, and take the same actions outlined in the "Action Guide".

You make your move, they make their moves with you. The point is that it is so important to work with them, so that more friends and "friends of their friends" join the discussion about global crises, political shallowness, the lack of political depth and know the guidelines of the World Social Revolution, which is a reflection of credibility of "The Revolution I Would Not Sell - A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen". You should at least make a few hundred friends as contacts to explain to them everything you have learned and understood from "Build Yourself a System of Power".

Setup a time to work in this project and arrange your contacts systematically into lists with basic information about each one of your contacts, such as name, age, gender, profession, email address and location. In this way, you will guide, organize and teach them as you have been taught into groups to carry out the process to build everyone a system of power, inspired by "The Revolution I Would Not Sell - A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen". I will let you know the specifications of these groups. Upon completion, please use the contact form to forward this information to me. You should have their consent, first. Then use the same "Contact Us" form to tell me you've done the first process and wait for further instructions.

Write your comments on "The Revolution I Would Not Sell - A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen" - The comments form is at the end of the page - and provide details on them. Don't feel that you can't write good, even if your language isn't good. Just write your comments in any language and I will edit and translate them for you to become a global writer and you will see a better result in the process of participating in the Global Peaceful Revolution. Such revolution doesn't need a weapon, it needs minds. Share your page when it is published.

Share the links on "The Revolution I Would Not Sell - A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen" and share the pictures of the global political campaigns on good websites. These images are on the first pages of the Global Dynamics I published earlier. Please don't do this on the social media of Facebook because it is a capitalist umbrella and more and if you want to know what's more, I will tell you, only when you ask and I will even show you methods to conquer any big social media, except Twitter.

Distribute the links of the videos you watch on "The Revolution I Would Not Sell - A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen" and hang the posters of the Global Revolution in public places. It will be good if you or your friends have public places such as bars, cafes, cafeterias, clubs, hotels, mini-market places, public companies and restaurants.

Read about the nature problems that affect the world badly, including the effects of global warming on many countries and on people, as you read on "The Revolution I Would Not Sell - A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen" at 100-beautiful-sites-in-the-world.com/100-beautiful-sites-blog.html. This is a site dedicated to the effects of global warming that you read about here politically on "How Sudan Was Hollowed from the Inside?".

Watch historical and political documentaries and films about the crises of environment and nature caused by classical regimes and open market big companies, and documentaries about some of the topics you read on the pictures of "Citizen Journalism Can Save the World From Political Catastrophes" at tvcinemaapp.com/tv-cinema-app-blog.html. This is another site oriented to the cinema and television that offers among documentaries cinematic analyzes movies and television series and lessons on how to install channels and watch movies free, so you don't need to pay for that.

** Please, if you find anything that does not make sense to you on "The Revolution I Would Not Sell - A Memoir of Principle, Politics, and the Pen", use the feedback form to write about it. I will answer your questions and reward you for that by offering you some good books to read and learn more about how to improve your life.
