Exile Archive's Living Map - Tree of Creation for Meaning Changes Life

"Exile Archive's Living Map - Tree of Creation for Meaning Changes Life" extends the structure of the original Exile Archive's Living Map into the poetic art and literary terrain where imagination becomes a form of healing. This page invites you into a creation mode... a space where you can envision the world you dream of: a world without conflict, without human rights violations, without injustice. Here, creation offers not only peace of mind but also a way to express discomfort, longing, or hope through art and literary work. It becomes a quiet remedy, even as it highlights stories that have emerged from struggle and transformation.

The Tree of Creation grows from the Living Map, extending its roots into the intimate terrain where meaning becomes action and witness becomes art. Here, the architecture of exile opens into a space of making... a place where poems, stories, and reflections rise from the same forces that shape memory, justice, and human dignity. This page invites you to step into that generative field, to see how creation becomes a way of understanding life, and how meaning, once awakened, begins to change it.

🧘🏼‍♂️ 1. Creation as Remedy

Creative expression becomes a form of healing, reflection, and reclamation... a way to transform discomfort and longing into clarity and possibility. Creation begins where language meets feeling. In this space, art becomes a quiet medicine... a way to transform memory into something that breathes, something that listens back.

The First Mirror of Creation

Before the Eritrean Martyr's Tree, before the architecture of witness took shape in my life, there was a smaller, more intimate beginning... a mirror held up to a ten‑year‑old child in grade four. Creation had already taken root in me. I knew the word early... not as an abstract idea, but as something my teachers explained with simple, luminous instructions: imagine something and write it; close your eyes and dream, then describe what you see; remember last night's dream and turn it into a story. Creation was the invitation to let the inner world speak.

I knew the feeling of being chosen. In composition class, when the teacher called on me to stand before the room and speak from one of the three titles written on the blackboard, something opened. I always chose the title that carried a story inside it, the one that invited imagination to step forward.

I read everything I could find... books, magazines, newspapers. I listened to my father reading aloud from his newspaper or Reader's Digest, and I would ask him to explain the parts I didn't understand. My teachers, too, fed this hunger. One of them read to us from international writers, and I remember the thrill of hearing Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray for the first time. The mirror in that story became, for me, a symbol of creativity itself... a surface that reflects not only the world but the inner life taking shape behind it.

That early mirror may have been the first remedy I ever knew. It gave form to feelings I couldn't yet name. It offered a way to turn confusion into curiosity, and curiosity into creation. It was the beginning of a vision that would follow me across borders, across years, and into the heart of the Exile Archive.

Creation deepened in intermediate school. Again, the language teacher wrote titles on the blackboard, and again I chose the story every time. Even in exams, I gravitated toward narrative. I still remember the title: Write about a Rainy Night. I imagined myself in Paris and wrote a short story set there.

The highest score for composition was 13 out of 15 — no one received more. But when my teacher read my story, he was astonished. He read it aloud to other teachers, insisting I deserved more than the maximum. They suggested adding the extra points to my grammar and dictation scores instead.

That evening, my father heard the story from the teacher as they gathered for tea-milk and conversation. I heard their laughter... warm, joyful, proud. That moment became another mirror, reflecting back to me the truth I had not yet named: creation was already shaping my life, healing me, and giving me a place to stand in the world.

🌿 Why This Story Matters to You?

You may wonder why this early memory should concern you, or what it offers beyond a glimpse into my childhood. The answer is simple: every person carries a first mirror of creation... a moment, however small, when imagination opened a door.

It might have been a drawing, a dream, a sentence, a question, or a feeling that refused to stay silent. My story is only one example of how creation begins, how it heals, and how it gives shape to a life. What matters here is not my childhood, but the reminder that you, too, have a place where creation first touched you. Returning to that place can become a remedy, a source of clarity, and a way to understand your own journey.

🌳 From the First Mirror to a Lifelong Tree

What begins in childhood as a simple act of imagining does not stay small. Creation grows with us... shaped by memory, experience, and the worlds we pass through. What is planted early continues to take form, branching into new meanings as we age.

This is why the Eritrean Martyr's Tree matters here: its three ecosystems, its triads, and its five pillars are not abstract concepts, but living patterns of how creation develops across a lifetime. They show how imagination becomes understanding, how understanding becomes action, and how creation, at every stage of life, works toward one purpose: to make life easier, clearer, and better.

Your own creation process has roots, branches, and seasons... and this page invites you to see how they grow.

At the water's edge, an open book rests on a wooden bench, illuminated by a single candle whose flame bends gently toward the tree, as though listening. A figure sits beneath the glowing canopy, gazing across a lake that mirrors the sky's purples, blues, and golds. Paper boats with tiny lights drift across the water, carrying unspoken messages toward distant mountains. Above them, a crescent moon hangs low, connected to the tree by a trail of stars that arcs into a soft rainbow. Hot‑air balloons rise slowly, like breaths released after long silence.

👩‍🦯‍➡️2. Meaning as Movement

Creation opens the door, but meaning is what begins to walk through it. Once something is created... an art work, a memory, a story, a feeling given shape, it doesn't stay still. It starts to move inside you, shifting, expanding, and guiding the way you understand your life. This movement of meaning is the natural continuation of creation, and it is the next step in the journey.

Meaning is never still, not static but alive. It shifts like light across a field, gathering force as it travels. It grows, and reshapes the self. It connects directly to the "Tree of Creation for Meaning". Here, you can explore how creation turns into understanding, and how understanding becomes a movement within you.

🤔 How Creation Gives Birth to Meaning?

Creation is the moment something inside you takes form... a thought, a memory, a feeling, a story. But meaning is what happens after that form appears. Meaning is the movement that begins once something is created. It is the way your creation starts speaking back to you, shaping your understanding, guiding your choices, and revealing what matters.

You reach meaning when you begin to notice:

  • why a memory stayed with you?
  • why a story wanted to be told?
  • why a feeling insisted on becoming language?
  • why an image, a dream, or a moment keeps returning?

Meaning is not found by thinking harder. Meaning emerges when creation gives you something to look at - a mirror, a shape, a trace, an experience - and you begin to understand what it reflects.

This is why creation is essential: you cannot reach meaning without first giving your inner world a form.

Once something is created, it begins to move:

  • it grows
  • it changes
  • it reveals
  • it connects
  • it guides

Meaning is the movement of creation through your life.

🌿 Why the Eritrean Martyr's Tree Holds Meaning?

This is why the creation of the Eritrean Martyr's Tree carries meaning... not only for me, but for anyone who seeks clarity, dignity, and a better world. What begins as a childhood spark grows into a lifelong structure: a way of understanding memory, shaping identity, and guiding action.

The Trees three ecosystems, its triad, and its five pillars are not abstract ideas; they are the natural evolution of creation itself. They show how what is planted in us early continues to grow, take shape, and develop across a lifetime.

And because creation always moves toward making life easier, clearer, and more humane, the Tree becomes more than a personal vision, it becomes a contribution to world development, a reminder that meaning grows when creation is allowed to live.

Exile Archive's Living Map - Tree of Creation for Meaning Changes Life: A reader sits quietly on a grassy hill beside a shimmering lake, holding a newspaper with headlines like "POLITICAL TURMOIL" and "CRISIS." Yet the scene around them is a sanctuary: cherry blossoms drift from a nearby tree, rabbits and butterflies gather in the grass, and a cat and dog float peacefully in a rowboat across the water. Hot air balloons rise in the sky, a rainbow arcs over distant mountains, and a dove glides past an airplane's heart-shaped contrail. A steaming mug and a vase of daisies rest beside the reader, who is wrapped in sunlight and stillness. This image offers emotional counterbalance... a visual breath amid the gravity of political testimony. It affirms that witness can coexist with beauty, and that even in exile, there is space for gentleness, reflection, and quiet joy.Exile Archive's Living Map - Tree of Creation for Meaning Changes Life: A reader sits quietly on a grassy hill beside a shimmering lake, holding a newspaper with headlines like "POLITICAL TURMOIL" and "CRISIS." 🍃 3. Stories Before Exile, Stories Before the Tree

Some of my stories were written long before the Eritrean Martyr's Tree existed, even before exile itself. They were born in classrooms, in quiet evenings, in the early years of teaching under a tightening military system whose harassment I have described elsewhere (in the pages about Sudan).

I will not repeat those accounts here; what matters in this space is how the stories survived, how they carried the seeds of creation and meaning long before the Tree took shape. These early narratives reveal that exile does not begin at a border.

It begins in the small fractures of daily life, in the moments when dignity is tested, and in the quiet acts of imagination that refuse to be silenced. Some of these stories, like The Suakini Cat, hold traces of that early resistance... the instinct to create even when the world tries to narrow your voice.

Every story in exile carries both fracture and fire. Short stories, narrative fragments, or reflective prose that emerge from exile, displacement, or witness. These narratives rise from lived experience - moments of loss, resilience, and awakening - offering a mirror to the world and a map back to the self.

🧘🏽 Why these stories matter to you?

When you read a story, you get not only the meaning, but you also explore the short story creation process. You discover how the clue unfolds through the lines of the short story, you see not only the techniques through the flow of the plot, but you get the aesthetics of short story. This creates a medium of creation for you you to write short stories. Besides, you learn this through video lessons and you will exactly how writing a short story is also a healing.

You will sense that a short story is similar to the tree. It has roots, but few branches stretching in imagery... feelings bloom in fruits...

Its crown is heavy with ripe dates... clusters of sweetness suspended between heaven and earth. From its branches hang glowing lanterns, and nestled within its textured trunk are framed memories: a smiling family, a child with a dove, a woman's portrait wrapped in quiet dignity. At its base, a spring flows gently into the reflective pool, surrounded by candles, prayer beads, and keepsakes... a teddy bear, baby shoes, a folded cloth. Pages drift upward from the roots, transforming into birds that carry remembrance into the sky. Doves rise with parchment wings, and a rainbow arcs toward a star-streaked twilight. This tree is not just a bearer of fruit, it is a system of remembrance.

Its roots cradle loss, its trunk holds memory, and its canopy sets glory in motion. It offers healing not by forgetting, but by honoring what was loved, what was lost, and what still lives in the light.

📖 Excerpts from The Suakini Cat

Different images gathered before him… a withered rose, and a Suakini woman from whose skin the oily "dihn" slowly seeped, carrying the scent of coffee, her legs filled with the sighs of an old joy... a joy that rose in her each time he returned from the port, brimming with the "nafnaf" of the cotton seeds, worn out from evenings that no longer held any memory for her. Only "Adroob," perhaps, still carried traces of those features. Inside his very narrow detention room, he began to retrieve the details…

He had forgotten that warmth for a long time... the way she gathered him between her breasts and her hips, how he surrendered to the lull of a love with no known horizon, among her generous heights and a color that resembled the damp soil of the Red Sea coast… Then he vanished, and did not re-emerge until the first kicks surprised him…

A boat is near a block of traditional houses and Adroop, as it appears in the short story is just relaxing longing of kindness... warm feelings that can hold him strong after what he has experienced before his release from the detention centre of a military religious regime.Exile Archive's Living Map - Tree of Creation for Meaning Changes Life: Some lines from Suakini Cat by short story writer Khalid Mohammed Osman illustrated with text on an image of longing, where a Suakini woman sitting outside on a yard near the Red Sea. 🌻 4. Poems before the exile, before the Tree

Poetry grows where silence touches truth. These pieces of poems emerge from the same roots and forces that shape the Living Map, carrying the textures of witness, memory, and the quiet insistence of hope... from home to Eastern Exile. This section holds excerpts from full poems, or annotated stanzas. It is a dedicated chamber for your poetry too.

I know a love

I know a love,
that dwells between the wound
and the rose.
The wave inhabits me,
lifts me high,
until I seem to be between the wave
and the cloak,
embracing the beginning of living things,
and lifting a curtain,
on a human beginning,
between the blood,
and the pulse of water.

Exile Archive's Living Map - Tree of Creation for Meaning Changes Life: Shaping a tender riverside vision of love - Image Description: Between the Wave and the Cloak: A young couple stands embraced at the center of the image—two souls suspended in love. The boy's heart is a wave, rising within him; the girl's presence is a cloak, wrapping around the moment. Their embrace is not just physical, it is metaphysical, a gesture of creation and remembrance. To their side, a palm tree heavy with golden dates leans gently toward them. Beneath its shade, a pregnant woman sits in quiet reflection, cradling the beginning of life.Exile Archive's Living Map - Tree of Creation for Meaning Changes Life: Shaping a tender riverside vision of love - Image Description: Between the Wave and the Cloak: A young couple stands embraced at the center of the image—two souls suspended in love. Their embrace is not just physical, it is metaphysical, a gesture of creation and remembrance. To their side, a palm tree heavy with golden dates leans gently toward them. Beneath its shade, a pregnant woman sits in quiet reflection, cradling the beginning of life. Her gaze is soft, her presence luminous. Around her, the earth holds offerings: fruit, candlelight, and open books... symbols of memory and renewal. A translucent curtain lifts beside the couple, revealing the embryo of a human being suspended between droplets of blood and water.

It glows with the pulse of origin, echoing the stanza's final lines. The river flows nearby, boats drift gently, and the horizon opens into light. This image is a visual unfolding of the stanza - a love that dwells between wound and rose, wave and cloak, blood and water. It is a sanctuary of creation, remembrance, and healing.

🌚 5. Reflections from the Field

Here, is a contemplative section for essays, meditations, or conceptual notes. Thoughts become a collective companion. These reflections trace the pathways between justice, imagination, and human dignity, offering a contemplative space to pause, consider, and return renewed. It is the kind of writings that bridge my archive's architecture with my creative practice through long years of struggle.
