Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives: Rethinking Established Beliefs!

Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives works on how Climate change challenges long-standing narratives that have shaped economic policies, industrial growth, and societal priorities and worked through the years to develop global warming.

Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives: One of nearly 500 photographs I captured during Greenpeace's vibrant activism at the Untied Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15 summit in Copenhagen, 2009), where I had the honor of being invited to participate. In this image, two passionate young women stand at the heart of the scene. I later layered the photo with a design of a palm tree growing from the earth, rooted within the center of a heart, an emblem of life, resistance, and regeneration. Alongside it, I added a powerful message urging the people of the world to build their own systems of power rooted in justice, dignity, and sustainability.Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives: One of nearly 500 photographs I captured during Greenpeace's vibrant activism at the Untied Nations Climate Change Conference (COP15 summit in Copenhagen, 2009), where I had the honor of being invited to participate. For decades, dominant perspectives framed environmental concerns as secondary to progress, dismissing warnings as exaggerated or politically motivated. However, as climate crises intensify, these narratives are being disrupted, forcing governments, corporations, and individuals to reconsider their assumptions. This exploration examines how shifting realities expose the flaws in conventional discourse, pushing societies toward new frameworks of sustainability and accountability.

A Brief Background!

So many years ago I was contacted with Green Peace, encouraged by my environmental activities in Eritrea after independence that have resulted in using my media, trade unions, schools, ministries and a central municipality to plant more than 5,000,000 Eritrean Martyr's Trees in the entire free country. Each martyr's tree carried a banner with motos and encouragement to plant more trees.

Although, the project was painted a national goal comes first, it is still serving the environment as I planned for it to achieve, not only in Eritrea, but also in the regional area in the Horn of Africa and all of the world, supporting the global ecosystem.

A couple of years after that I started an environmental website by the domain name 100 Beautiful Sites in the World and then I connected it to the environmental activities coincident with the COP15 in Copenhagen, in which I was invited to join. Through festing in central Copenhagen and some hours of marching through to where the activities continued until late morning I shot almost 5 hundreds of photos and videos.

Climate Change Combats Dominant Narratives!

Climate Change isn't just about rising temperatures or melting ice; it's wrapped in a whole tangle of stories that shape how people understand and respond to it. Here are a few major narratives that tend to hang around it:

🌱 1. The Environmental Crisis Narrative

Frames climate change as an urgent, existential threat.

Focuses on irreversible damage to ecosystems, species extinction, and planetary boundaries.

Popular among activists, scientists, and international bodies like the IPCC.

🧍‍♂️ 2. The Human Security Narrative

Highlights the risks to health, food, water, shelter, and safety.

Often used in humanitarian and development contexts.

Connects climate change to conflict, migration, and inequality.

💼 3. The Economic Risk & Opportunity Narrative

Seen through lenses like financial loss, infrastructure damage, and insurance risk.

Also includes the idea of a "green economy" and investments in clean energy, jobs, and innovation.

🏛 4. The Political & Justice Narrative

Emphasizes historical responsibility and unequal burdens (Global North vs. Global South).

Advocates for climate justice, fairness, and indigenous rights.

Often tied to calls for reparations, activism, and policy change.

⚡ 5. The Techno-Optimist Narrative

Believes innovation will solve climate problems - solar, carbon capture, geo-engineering, etc...

Sometimes criticized for avoiding difficult lifestyle changes or systemic shifts.

🔥 6. The Apocalyptic Narrative

Presents climate change in catastrophic terms: societal collapse, uninhabitable Earth.

Can motivate action, or cause despair and paralysis.

Each of these narratives resonates differently with individuals, cultures, and governments. They shape not just what we do about climate change, but how we talk about it.

Curious which of these vibes most with your view? Or do you want to dive deeper into one of them?

Here we go to explore these points further:

Six Stories We Tell About Climate Change and Why They Matter?

Here we break these narratives down:

Climate change isn't just a scientific reality, it's also a story we're all telling. From policymakers to protestors, farmers to financiers, the way we frame the crisis deeply influences how we respond to it. Here are six major narratives that dominate the climate conversation today and how they shape our world.

🌱 1. The Environmental Crisis: "Nature Is Breaking"

This narrative casts climate change as a dire emergency for the planet. We hear it in David Attenborough's haunting voiceovers and in documentaries like Before the Flood, where melting ice caps and scorched forests are symbols of Earth in peril.

Example: Greta Thunberg’s speeches often reflect this view, warning that ecosystems are collapsing and mass extinction is imminent unless we act now.

Impact: Drives urgency for global treaties (like the Paris Agreement) and fuels movements like Extinction Rebellion.

🧍‍♂️ 2. Human Security: "It's Not Just the Climate, It's Us"

Climate change threatens food, health, homes, and livelihoods. This narrative links rising temperatures to very human struggles, especially for vulnerable populations.

Example: In Sub-Saharan Africa, shifting rainfall has left farmers unable to grow crops, pushing families into hunger and migration.

Impact: Shapes aid programs, disaster preparedness, and humanitarian policy from drought relief to climate refugees.

💼 3. Economic Risk & Opportunity: "It's Bad Business As Usual"

This is the language of boardrooms and Wall Street. Climate change is framed as a risk to economies and a chance for innovation.

Example: The World Economic Forum regularly ranks climate threats among the top business risks. Yet it also promotes green tech startups and ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) investing.

Impact: Accelerates the transition to renewable energy, carbon markets, and sustainable finance.

🏛 4. Political & Justice: "Who Pays the Price?"

This narrative centers on fairness. The Global South suffers the most, yet did the least to cause the problem.

Example: During COP27, leaders from island nations like Tuvalu demanded "loss and damage" compensation from industrial powers for rising seas and disappearing lands.

Impact: Inspires movements for climate justice, indigenous sovereignty, and equitable climate finance.

⚡ 5. Techno-Optimist: "Innovation Will Save Us"

Hopeful and ambitious, this narrative champions technology as humanity’s lifeline out of crisis.

Example: Billionaires funding carbon-capture projects or "sunshade" geoengineering reflect this idea. It's echoed in media that celebrates electric cars and green hydrogen breakthroughs.

Impact: Sparks investment and research, but critics warn it can be a "get-out-of-change-free" card.

🔥 6. Apocalyptic: "We're Too Late"

This is the doom-and-gloom storyline. It suggests we’ve already crossed a point of no return.

Example: In some corners of climate Twitter and dystopian fiction (The Ministry for the Future, for instance), the future is framed as chaotic and irreversible.

Impact: May cause paralysis or eco-anxiety, but can also push radical policy changes and survival planning.

🎭 Why Narratives Matter

Which story you hear and which one you tell can determine everything from your consumer choices to your vote. Narratives shape climate laws, funding priorities, and public imagination. And often, several coexist, creating tension or synergy across movements and mindsets.

So what's your story? Do you lean toward hope, justice, fear, or a bit of everything?

Bring any of these things you lean to in the comments and let's discuss about them, or get you more insights about your favourite.

From Stories to Solutions: Climate Narratives Guiding Us Through the Heat!

And here also we explore these narratives deeper  to know how they guide us through the heat:

The temperature is rising literally and metaphorically. With global average temperatures projected to reach an astonishing 70°F (21.1°C) for the first time in recorded human history, we're standing at a crossroads not just of action, but of imagination. To confront climate change, we need facts and funds, yes... but also narratives that move hearts and shift systems.

Here's how seven dominant climate stories can shape the path forward.

🌱 1. The Environmental Crisis Narrative

What it says: Nature is collapsing. How it helps: It mobilizes moral urgency. This narrative fuels campaigns like protecting the Amazon, banning fossil fuels, and expanding marine reserves. The emotional power of seeing dying coral reefs or vanishing snow peaks generates public pressure that drives global treaties and citizen advocacy.

🧍‍♂️ 2. The Human Security Narrative

What it says: Climate change threatens food, water, health, and homes. How it helps: It personalizes the issue. When communities realize that asthma rates, heatstroke, or floods hit them and not just "the poor" or "the future", they demand resilience plans, emergency infrastructure, and fair insurance systems.

💼 3. The Economic Risk & Opportunity Narrative

What it says: Business-as-usual will bankrupt us. How it helps: It nudges governments and markets. Carbon pricing, clean-tech startups, and green bonds become palatable not because they're eco-friendly, but because they're economically smart. And suddenly, every solar panel is a job creator.

🏛 4. The Political & Justice Narrative

What it says: The climate crisis is unequal and unfair. How it helps: It centers equity. The Global South's demand for "loss and damage" reparations is rooted in this lens. Solutions from this narrative prioritize not just carbon reduction but who benefits from that reduction and who gets left behind.

⚡ 5. The Techno-Optimist Narrative

What it says: We can innovate our way out. How it helps: This fuels large-scale R&D, from carbon capture to clean steel to climate-adaptive crops. While it's not a license for complacency, it reminds us that bold solutions can be born, if we invest in them with courage and urgency.

🔥 6. The Apocalyptic Narrative

What it says: It might already be too late. How it helps: At first glance, this story seems paralyzing. But for some, it can spark radical rethinking of economies, values, and consumption patterns. Apocalyptic awareness fuels degrowth movements, survival planning, and direct action.

✊ 7. The Protest & Grassroots Narrative

What it says: System change, not climate change. How it helps: It keeps leaders accountable. This is the narrative of banners and streets like those I captured at COP15 in Copenhagen, from "There is no Planet B" to "Leave the Oil in the Soil", these are truth-telling slogans that resist greenwashing and delay. Grassroots movements push the Overton window, making previously "radical" ideas become political common sense.

🔄 So, Can Narratives Solve Climate Change?

Not alone. But they frame the fight. They decide whether we feel hope or fear. Whether we trust markets or movements. Whether we act with policy, protest, or both. And as the mercury climbs ever closer to historic thresholds, it's the narrative we choose that might determine whether we change in time, or look back in regret.

So the question isn't just "What can we do?" It's also: "What story are we telling and who gets to tell it?"

🧠 The Great Climate Disconnect: Why the World Isn't Listening?

The glaciers are melting. The forests are burning. The heat is rising toward record highs projected to reach an unprecedented 70°F global average. And yet, action lags. Warnings are heard, but not heeded. Why?

Here are the three forces behind climate inaction, each with its own truths and contradictions:

🧍‍♀️ 1. Why Citizens Struggle to Listen: The Human Mind Against the Climate Clock

Despite growing concern, many people still treat climate change as distant, abstract, or someone else's problem. Why?

Psychological distance: People perceive climate change as a "future" problem even as it wreaks havoc in the present.

Crisis fatigue: With wars, pandemics, and economic instability, many feel overwhelmed. Climate becomes just one more anxiety to ignore.

Cognitive dissonance: A person may care about the planet but still fly often, eat meat, or invest in fossil funds, leading to internal conflict and, often, denial.

Misinformation & media fog: Contradictory messaging and disinformation from some media and think tanks clouds the science and seeds doubt.

Result: Even when people care, they may feel powerless. Action feels too small, or too late.

🏛 2. Why Governments Don't Truly Listen: Power, Profit, and Politics

Governments make pledges. They sign agreements. But they rarely follow through with the scale or speed the crisis demands. Why?

Short-termism: Politicians operate on 4–5 year election cycles. Climate change requires decades-long transformation. The math doesn't align with the politics.

Fossil fuel entanglement: Many governments are tightly tied to oil and gas economies through tax revenues, jobs, or lobbying. Breaking away isn't just difficult, it's economically and politically risky.

Fear of backlash: Drastic climate policies (carbon taxes, car bans, meat reduction) can spark protest movements, as seen with the "Gilets Jaunes" in France. Politicians fear voter revolt.

Symbolic policy: Leaders often settle for gestures like "net zero by 2050" rather than enforceable, immediate laws. The result? A sea of "blah blah blah" in climate protests.

Result: The system protects the status quo. Listening too hard would require changing too much.

🌍 3. Why the World Isn't Ready to Listen?:

Narrative Collision and Collective Denial
On a deeper level, entire worldviews clash when it comes to climate change:

The growth myth: Our economies are built on endless expansion. Climate solutions often call for limits, reduction, and rethinking consumption. That's a hard sell.

Cultural divide: Some countries frame climate change as urgent justice; others as a conspiracy or foreign pressure. There's no shared story, only a contested one.

Hope vs. fear paralysis: Apocalyptic narratives can drive action, or cause numbness. Optimism can energize, or breed complacency.

Result: Humanity hasn't fully agreed on what climate change means, let alone how to solve it. Until we align the story, it's hard to align the action.

🔁 Listening as a Radical Act

The irony? The science is loud. The streets are loud. I have captured slogans like "Change Politics" and "We All Are the System". In essence, people are listening, but power doesn't always hear.

To truly "listen" in the climate context means doing something uncomfortable: Changing how we live. Giving things up. Building anew.

Maybe that's why we don't listen. Not because we can't. But because deep down… we know what listening would cost.

If We Keep Not Listening: A Glimpse into a Warming World!

We were warned. The science was loud. The activists were louder. But somewhere between the summits and soundbites, the world put its fingers in its ears and kept walking.

What happens if we keep not listening?

🌡️ 1. A World Permanently Past 2°C

By ignoring the urgent need to slash emissions, the world overshoots the 1.5°C target and then passes 2°C by the early 2040s. At this threshold:

🔥 Heatwaves will become so intense that even healthy people risk death indoors without cooling.

🌾 Crop failures escalate, especially in tropical regions, triggering spikes in food prices and triggering famine in vulnerable nations.

🌊 Coastal cities flood regularly: Miami, Jakarta, Lagos, and parts of Copenhagen lose entire neighborhoods to the sea.

🦠 Diseases like malaria and dengue spread into previously temperate zones.

Climate no longer looks like weather, it feels like a system unraveling.

🛂 2. Climate Refugees Reshape the Map

Entire regions become uninhabitable due to rising seas, prolonged drought, or unbearable heat.

The UN predicts up to 1.2 billion climate-displaced people by 2050.

Border walls, asylum restrictions, and xenophobic politics rise in response.

Meanwhile, cities like Oslo, Vancouver, and parts of Denmark swell with new arrivals bringing opportunity, tension, and a need for radical urban adaptation.

💸 3. Economic Systems Under Strain

The global economy stumbles under the weight of extreme weather and failing infrastructure:

Insurance markets collapse in flood- and fire-prone zones.

Supply chains break due to resource scarcity and weather disruptions.

Entire industries vanish (coal, long-haul tourism), while new ones (climate adaptation, geoengineering) rise, but not fast enough.

Inaction proves far more expensive than action ever would have been.

🏛️ 4. Democracy Under Pressure

Crisis becomes the new normal, and with it:

Governments invoke more emergency powers to manage food, water, and migration.

Populist and authoritarian leaders rise by blaming "outsiders" for climate chaos.

Protests swell, then are met with surveillance and crackdowns.

As heat rises, so does repression.

🎭 5. Culture in Crisis, Hope on the Edge

The climate crisis penetrates everything: art, music, religion, education, identity.

Young people turn away from traditional aspirations choosing activism or opting out entirely.

Cultural mourning emerges: ceremonies for lost coastlines, extinct species, vanished winters.

But even amid despair, there's resistance... communities rediscover solidarity, new spiritual frameworks, and regenerative living.

Those who kept listening begin building what's next.

🧭 Conclusion: The Future We Write Together

This isn't science fiction. It's a projection, one that becomes reality if the present course continues.

But it isn't fate.

The future remains unwritten, and every act of listening - true listening - is a pivot point. From my lens, my COP15 archives and relentless curiosity become part of the antidote: they remind us this isn't new, we have been warned, and we do have power.

Silence is expensive. Listening is revolutionary.

🌿 Politics, Ecosystems, and the Sound of Silence: Why Global Warming Isn't Just a Crisis of Nature But of Leadership?

In 1991, while the Horn of Africa was still healing from the scars of war and drought, a grassroots environmental project began in Eritrea. I planed it from A to Z.

Its goal?

To restore a balance between nature and people... to plant sustainability in the soil and soul of a nation. That same impulse would later ripple into digital spaces like HOA Political Scene and 100 Beautiful Sites in the World Blog, blending environmental passion with cultural and political critique.

And yet, more than 30 years later, global warming has accelerated. The temperature climbs. Forests vanish. Storms rage.

Why?

Because this crisis is no longer just ecological. It's political.

🌍 1. The Destructure of the Ecosystem

At its core, climate change is not just about heat. It's about disruption. Disruption of:

🐜 Pollinators that can no longer thrive under shifting bloom seasons.

🐘 Migration patterns scrambled by vanishing habitats.

💧 Watersheds drained or redirected by industry and agriculture.

This is the slow-motion collapse of systems that evolved over millions of years and politics has accelerated the wreckage. Logging concessions. Oil subsidies. Land grabs. A planet auctioned to the highest bidder.

🏛️ 2. Governments: Poor Example, Powerful Influence

Governments, in theory, are meant to guide and protect. But too often, they:

Preach sustainability while expanding airports and pipelines.

Host climate summits while suppressing protests outside their doors.

Reward greenwashing instead of regulating polluters.

Rather than leading with integrity, many states operate from short-term interests, geopolitical maneuvering, corporate ties, and electoral calculations. The public sees this. And slowly, cynicism sets in.

🧍‍♂️ 3. The Public: Limited Power, Heavy Expectations

Ordinary people are told to recycle, drive less, eat green. But their actions unfold within a system that still rewards pollution:

Cities without bike lanes tell people to "cycle more"

Towns with no public transit shame car drivers.

Governments tax sustainable goods while subsidizing industrial meat.

The result? The burden of climate responsibility shifts from those in power to those with little power.

🎭 4. Narrative Fracture: A World of Mixed Messages

I said it best, "governments do not present good examples for the public to follow"- That mismatch creates dissonance:

One part of society demands individual action.

Another part obstructs structural change.

Both point fingers, and the ecosystem suffers in the crossfire.

The disconnect is not just political, it's cultural. When leadership is incoherent, the public becomes confused, apathetic, or worse hopeless.

🔁 5. Reclaiming the Ecosystem Ethic

But there is hope. And it may rise from memory.

Projects like my Eritrea initiative and the media I built around it offer a vision grounded in lived connection with nature, not abstraction. They remind us that:

Ecosystems are relational, not extractive.

Sustainability must be modeled, not marketed.

Political will isn't a given, it's built from public willpower.

We need public activism, yes. But we also need leadership that shows, not tells.

🧭 Conclusion: Climate Change as a Crisis of Example

If the planet is unraveling, part of the thread was pulled by politics through laws not passed, habits not changed, values not practiced.

To heal the Earth, leadership must lead by example. And the public, armed with clarity and conscience, must keep pushing.

Because ecosystems don't speak in press releases. They respond to what we do not what we say.

Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives: The Eritrean Martyr's Tree Base Evidences that the Global Dynamics Bear Fundamental Executive Processes to Make the World Behave Better

The Eritrean Martyr's Tree has been a successful project that resulted from my environmental activities, planning, fundraising, meeting, broadcasting and leading all of the Eritrean society to plant more than 5 million martyr's trees. Un fortunately, the Sudanese people are not revolutionists like the Eritreans, They failed to implement the martyr's tree I gave it their name to let their martyrs continue living and breathing through their trees.

What Do You Think of "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives"?

The starting actions to Build Yourself a System of Power that Can Save the World From Political Catastrophes are here at the Action Guide with the following steps to join the Horn Africa's Network to be acquainted with it, the basic foundation of the Principles of Citizen Journalism that Can Save the World From Political Catastrophes and they let you know in additional to all of that more basic information about the press media principles that encouraged me to create the LPE of the Masses' Era with its mind-blowing solutions to global political catastrophes. Not withstanding this, the generator of the Action Guide itself are the Global Dynamics. The Global Dynamics are actually generated with the first I started to examine how these dynamics which I have invented can change the world. The proofs of optimal success lie in the success of the experimental project:

To become a good activist and maybe a leader of one of the associations of the world masses, as you learned from the slogans of the political campaigns on "Citizen Journalism that Can Save the World From Political Catastrophes", fill out the 'Contact Us' form. Be sure to let me know that you've read "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives", as well as the Global Dynamics. Show me that you understood what you read about the crises of the world along with the highlighted solutions through "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives" and would like to create, or join one of the global masses associations. Let me know more about that you have learned well and so you decided to join and create the ERA OF THE MASSES.

Sign up for "Intelligentsia Multimedia Newspaper Revolutionizes Knowledge" by filling the form on this section of the "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives" and submit it. This is a double-opt-in list to prevent someone who knows your email address from subscribing you, without having you to know about it. Check an email with a confirmation link, I'll send to you. If you didn't find it in your incoming emails box, please check your junk folder and move it to your inbox folder.

Forward HOA Political Scene to your friends, including the link of "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives", as follows: https://www.hoa-politicalscene.com/climate-change-disrupts-dominant-narratives.html. Motivate them to read it and join the pioneering solutions to global crises, and take the same actions outlined in the "Action Guide".

You make your move, they make their moves with you. The point is that it is so important to work with them, so that more friends and “friends of their friends” join the discussion about global crises, political shallowness, the lack of political depth and know the guidelines of the World Social Revolution, which is a reflection of credibility of "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives". You should at least make a few hundred friends as contacts to explain to them everything you have learned and understood from "Build Yourself a System of Power".

Setup a time to work in this project and arrange your contacts systematically into lists with basic information about each one of your contacts, such as name, age, gender, profession, email address and location. In this way, you will guide, organize and teach them as you have been taught into groups to carry out the process to build everyone a system of power, inspired by "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives". I will let you know the specifications of these groups. Upon completion, please use the contact form to forward this information to me. You should have their consent, first. Then use the same "Contact Us" form to tell me you've done the first process and wait for further instructions.

Write your comments on "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives" - The comments form is at the end of the page - and provide details on them. Don't feel that you can't write good, even if your language isn't good. Just write your comments in any language and I will edit and translate them for you to become a global writer and you will see a better result in the process of participating in the Global Peaceful Revolution. Such revolution doesn't need a weapon, it needs minds. Share your page when it is published.

Share the links on "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives" and share the pictures of the global political campaigns on good websites. These images are on the first pages of the Global Dynamics I published earlier. Please don't do this on the social media of Facebook because it is a capitalist umbrella and more and if you want to know what's more, I will tell you, only when you ask and I will even show you methods to conquer any big social media, except Twitter.

Distribute the links of the videos you watch on "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives" and hang the posters of the Global Revolution in public places. It will be good if you or your friends have public places such as bars, cafes, cafeterias, clubs, hotels, mini-market places, public companies and restaurants.

This is a site dedicated to the effects of global warming that you read about here politically on "Climate Change Disrupts Dominant Narratives".

Watch historical and political documentaries and films about the crises of environment and nature caused by classical regimes and open market big companies, and documentaries about some of the topics you read on the pictures of "Citizen Journalism Can Save the World From Political Catastrophes" at tvcinemaapp.com/tv-cinema-app-blog.html. This is another site oriented to the cinema and television that offers among documentaries cinematic analyzes movies and television series and lessons on how to install channels and watch movies free, so you don't need to pay for that.
