The Forces of Freedom and Change Destroyed Sudan!

The "Forces of Freedom and Change Destroyed Sudan" is neither an accusation, nor an empty claim. It is real, as written in 2019 with so many warning in direct contact with this group in their Twitter accounts and with the Ethiopian prime minister at his Twitter account, when the mixed national-regional conspiracy began to stop a progressive revolution in Sudan that had a potential to inspire any other movements in the region. That was the ghost of fear in these nations.

The Forces of Freedom and Change Destroyed Sudan: I do not believe in political parties and I believe that we can establish a democracy without the existence of parties and parliaments. In any case, if you insist on having parties, then these parties must be founded on a purely secular national basis، not on religious or sectarian foundations. Therefore, the secular civil constitution must stipulate this, so we can be safeguarded from the conspiracies of religious and sectarian parties and the populist parties such as the Ba'ath and Nasserist parties, which have already failed in their original countries like Syria, Iraq, and Egypt. "Journalist, humanitarian and environmental activist Khalid Muhammad Othman".The Forces of Freedom and Change Destroyed Sudan: I do not believe in political parties and I believe that we can establish a democracy without the existence of parties and parliaments. "Journalist, humanitarian and environmental activist Khalid Muhammad Othman".

It is because of encouragement of the Ethiopian prime minister to the Forces of Freedom and Change that this small group of opportunists in the revolution accepted and signed a betrayal agreement with the remnant of Omer al-Bashir's military dictatorial regime. Sudanese people will never forget, neither history, nor the coming generation. Did I say the coming generation? Of course, only if they listen to the wisdom of the years to take care of their homeland.

The Gulf area is not your homeland, America, Australia, China, Europe, and any place you live in is not your homeland. When you lose your homeland, you don't only use your identity, you lose your future and the future of you sons... you lose yourself. Without a home you call homeland you are nothing.

The loss is a fabric of dominant conventional narratives. These narratives are combined and developed through history to keep the standard of people's thinking obedience to some political powers call "compliance".

Renewing the Warnings from 2019: How the First Betrayal Fueled Sudan’s Collapse

The following articles, originally written in Arabic in 2019, have now been translated into English not as a retrospective, but as a call to remember how Sudan’s downfall began. These are not just political reflections; they are documents from the very moment the betrayal took root.

In the aftermath of our uprising against the dictatorship of Omer al-Bashir, a small faction of the revolutionary movement, one that we had taught, organized, and stood beside stepped away from the people’s mandate. Instead of dismantling the regime, they entered negotiations with its remnants.

In doing so, they signed a power-sharing agreement that legitimized the very forces we had risen against. The betrayal was not abstract, it was inked and applauded, even as we warned that such a pact would fracture the revolution and hollow out Sudan’s future.

That moment marked the first break—the beginning of the unraveling. Everything that has followed the violence, the deception, the continued suffering of the people can be traced back to that decision. These translated writings return now to connect the present crisis with its origin point. Sudan was not lost overnight. It was given away, piece by piece, starting with that deal.

From the very beginning of this betrayal, I stood in opposition. I confronted that opportunistic faction... small in number but immense in the damage they would cause and called them what they were: enemies of the Sudanese people. Their decision to negotiate with the regime’s remnants was not a political compromise; it was a betrayal that would fracture the revolution and poison the future.

Before the ink dried on their so-called power-sharing agreement, I issued a clear warning: "If you sign this agreement, Sudan will cease to exist. You will also give a legitimacy to killers.” For they were not shaking hands with reformers, they were legitimizing the same killers who had oppressed, tortured, and slaughtered under Bashir’s rule. To share power with them was to share in their crimes.

These are not words spoken in hindsight. They are documented in the articles I wrote back in 2019, in Arabic, when the conspiracy was just beginning. I now bring them forward in English not for vindication, but to ensure that the truth is preserved. The loss of Sudan did not begin with war... it began with compromise, cloaked in diplomacy, and signed in the name of progress.

We had gathered, educated, and prepared the revolutionaries ordinary people rising with extraordinary courage to dismantle dictatorship and build a new Sudan. But that dream was hijacked. A small faction within the Sudanese opposition abroad, called Forces of Freedom and Change unrepresentative, opportunistic, and deeply compromised chose negotiation over transformation. Instead of honoring the people’s mandate, they signed a power-sharing agreement with the remnants of the very regime we had risen to overthrow.

What Happened Before the Betrayal Agreement?

Before compromise derailed the revolution, there was unity and resolve. The youth we had helped organize and mobilize achieved a historic milestone: a mass sit-in outside the headquarters of the Sudanese military, then under the control of the National Islamic Front (NIF) the political arm of the Muslim Brotherhood led by Hassan Abdallah al-Turabi. It was Turabi who had orchestrated Omer al-Bashir’s rise to power in a 1989 coup, embedding NIF loyalists throughout the army to secure the regime’s grip.

This sit-in wasn’t just a protest... it was a moment of collective defiance. It marked the people’s reclamation of space and voice, right at the doorstep of the regime’s military fortress. The streets echoed with a singular message: the time of fear was over. The revolution was in motion, and for the first time in decades, the power seemed to shift toward the people.

When they seized power, they wasted no time. From the very first day, they began firing national officers from the army replacing them with loyalists from their own party ranks. Any officer who voiced concern or dared to question the new order was imprisoned, tortured, or forced into exile. The military was no longer a national institution—it became a partisan tool.

But the purge didn’t stop there. Across the country, Sudanese citizens, especially those with education, influence, or independent thought began to flee. What followed was not just repression, but a calculated hollowing of the nation. The goal was clear: empty the institutions, eliminate dissent, and fill the vacuum with obedience.

Building the Revolution Across Borders!

In such a repressive environment, it was nearly impossible to gather the resources needed to ignite a revolution from within. So we turned outward. We began working among Sudanese nationals living abroad organizing, educating, and empowering them with a vision for change.

The goal was to create a bridge between those in exile and the courageous youth still inside the country. Social media became our gathering ground, our meeting place, and our rallying cry. It was through these digital spaces that many were connected and awakened to the cause.

But with that openness came vulnerability. Many opportunists entered through this window those who saw the revolution not as a path to liberation, but as a stage for personal gain.

The Sit-in: A Turning Point Seized and Sabotaged!

When we led the youth to organize the sit-in, they rose with extraordinary courage. They remained there for days peaceful, determined, unwavering. It was a powerful moment that signaled the strength of the revolution and gave hope to millions. The atmosphere was electric with possibility, and for a brief window, it felt like real change was within reach.

But Omer al-Bashir, ever the manipulator, moved quickly. Sensing the momentum turning against him, he transferred power to one of his own officers in a calculated ploy meant to deceive the protesters into believing a genuine transition had begun. It wasn’t a change; it was a reshuffling of the same deck.

This maneuver opened the door for the smallest and most opportunistic faction within the revolutionary ranks to step forward and claim leadership. It was during this fragile moment that the Ethiopian Prime Minister arrived with his peace initiative, one that further emboldened those willing to negotiate with the very forces we had risen against.

From the start, I opposed this betrayal. I called them what they were: enemies of the Sudanese people. I warned them publicly and unequivocally that this agreement would lead not to peace, but to the destruction of Sudan’s future. That by legitimizing the killers and manipulators of the past, they were giving them new life and new weapons.

Calling Out the Betrayal In Their Own Public Space!

I had the chance to confront these collaborators directly. I didn’t hold back. I told them plainly: “The blood of the people is not Coca-Cola for you to toast and celebrate over a betrayal agreement with murderers.” I turned to their so-called leader—someone flaunting a PhD and asked: "From where did you earn that degree?" It was then written in the blood of martyrs?

My criticism extended beyond them. I also addressed the Ethiopian Prime Minister, whose so-called peace initiative only served to fracture the revolution and legitimize the killers. I challenged him bluntly: "How could you accept a Nobel Prize... for what? For selling out a people's uprising? For delivering a revolution into the hands of its executioners?"

He didn’t even seem to know the origins of the prize he received.

The Aftermath Blood Shed!

Everything that followed, the violence, the collapse, the unraveling of our nation was seeded in that single act of betrayal. The military and the Janjaweed, renamed Rapid Support Forces, were not born in opposition to each other. They were created by the same dictatorial system. They were allies in repression, now turned rivals in ambition.

These translated articles are not history lessons. They are warnings left unheeded. They were written in 2019, when the conspiracy began to unfold, when the illusion of transition was packaged and sold to the people as victory. They carry a message I still believe: Sudan’s revolution was not lost in war... it was surrendered in negotiation.

Interconnected Pages!

This section features the old articles to make sure that everything I did and everything I said about the situation of the Sudan in the future predicting what is happening now before it has happened was correct. All my warnings have gone with the wind... and you see now the Sudan has also gone with the wind. When will Sudanese learn?

March 7, 2003: The Destruction of the Sudanese CharacterDestruction of the Sudanese Character!

Do you know anything about the destruction of the Sudanese character across decades of organized conspiracy against it? I’d wager you don’t... especially if you belong to a political faction rooted in religion or sectarianism. Because a party like that has long played a central role, over decades of suppressing revolutionary consciousness, in cutting you off from the very fundamentals of sound political thought... thought that begins with a clear understanding of what "politics" truly means, and the purpose for which that word even came into being.

April 20, 2011: Sudanese, Unite and Resist the Conspiracies!

Some political leaders have begun laying the groundwork to insert the Israeli-Arab conflict into Sudan’s internal affairs... an intentional diversion meant to inflame and divide. In lockstep, segments of the Arab media have echoed this narrative, and even international outlets like the BBC have not been entirely neutral. The aim is clear: to destabilize and fracture Sudanese unity under the guise of imported tensions.

But these efforts are not organic. They are driven by regional and international forces working through local proxies and media manipulation, cartoons, propaganda, and misinformation, all designed to dismantle the largest country in Africa by turning its people against each other. What's happening in Sudan is more worse than what has happened to Somalia.

Are the Sudanese truly aware of this?

The military religious ruling party in the North bears full responsibility. It has created Sudan’s political crisis, plunging the nation into sorrow and disillusionment. It has transformed legitimate political struggle into sectarian and tribal conflict. And it is complicit in fragmenting Sudan culturally, geographically, and emotionally.

June 15, 2014: What Kind of Political Opposition Are We Talking About in Sudan?

Is it the political opposition made up of sectarian dynasties? Or is it the opposition splintered among parties that call themselves Arab Socialist parties, formed originally from splits between the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party (Iraq wing) and the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party (Syria wing), along with the Nasserist Arab Socialist Party affiliated with Egypt?

So, how could you expect Sudan will continue to exist with all these non-Sudanese fractured parties?

The problem beyond who has created it, is the problem of the Sudanese people themselves. Until they change this way they are thinking, Sudan wouldn't exist.

Jul 05, 2017: 130 Opposition Groups? Democracy or Distraction?

After heated discussions within revolutionary circles, I raised the alarm: A movement split into 130 factions is not a revolution... it’s a relay race of egos. This isn't the flourishing of democracy. It’s a logistical and ideological breakdown. Real opposition doesn’t multiply for prestige... it consolidates for strategy. And in Sudan, fragmentation is the oxygen of counter-revolution. The question isn't how many oppose, but how focused that opposition truly is.

July 7, 2019: The National Betrayal Agreement Between the Revolution’s Negotiators and the Killers!

The statement released yesterday by the negotiators of the Sudanese uprising - led by the Sudanese Professionals Association and the Forces of Freedom and Change - is, in the context of the revolution, a statement of betrayal. It represents a retreat from the revolution’s goals and offers the killers a new lease on political life by allowing them participation in any governing body. It also grants them an escape from accountability for the crimes they committed against the Sudanese people.

August 10, 2019: The Sudanese Revolution Belongs to the Youth... They Alone Sacrifice, Triumph, and Decide!

There is no place for failed politicians... failed, failed, failed... who have continued failing across every political era, and even failed during their so-called leadership of the revolution.

Once again, the Sudanese people rise up in a revolution that has swept across many regions of Sudan, facing down the remnants of the collapsed military-religious regime represented by the so-called Military Council and the Janjaweed mercenaries who committed the Darfur massacre under the command of the criminal Omar al-Bashir, the very man who created the Janjaweed in the first place.

Though the revolution ousted him months ago, elements of that same regime have returned to seize power and to negotiate with those who claim to represent the Sudanese uprising, under the banner of the Forces of Freedom and Change and the Sudanese Professionals Association.

September 6, 2019: An Attempted Assassination of the Sudanese Revolution Through the Political Agreement to Establish Structures of Governance!

An Analysis of the Political Agreement to Establish Governance Institutions in Sudan

There is no legitimate party to the political agreement signed between the Military Council with its Janjaweed militias and the so-called Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) for establishing governance structures in Sudan.

This deal... a humiliating, regressive, and cheap surrender that disrespects the blood of the martyrs and exposes the ulterior motives of its signatories begins with this title: "The Political Agreement for the Establishment of Transitional Governance Structures between the Military Council and the Forces of Freedom and Change."

We will begin our critique with the title itself and follow it word by word, line by line.

An agreement bearing this title is flawed from the outset and can never be legitimate, even if endorsed by any authority whatsoever. Why?

Before answering that, we must clarify our point: it can never be legitimate, even with the endorsement of any authority. No such legitimate authority exists in the first place to approve it. These so-called authorities are to be established only after the agreement is signed. But does that retroactively legitimize the agreement?

Absolutely not.

You may notice that these governing bodies will only emerge after the implementation of an "illegitimate agreement." So is this contradiction or simply a darkly comical absurdity?

Sep 18, 2019: The So-Called Forces of Freedom and Change Sold the Revolution and the Blood of the Martyrs to the Military Killers and Their Janjaweed, All for Power

The Sudanese people continue to suffer tragedy upon tragedy at the hands of those who claim to lead them ever since independence from Britain in 1956. Now, they face yet another conspiracy: a political agreement struck between those who claim to represent the revolution and the killers of the Military Council and Janjaweed militias.

By submitting to the conditions of the killers in the Military Council, the so-called Forces of Freedom and Change signed a treacherous agreement... one that sold out both the revolution and the blood of its martyrs to the same military criminals and Janjaweed gang, all in pursuit of power.

This reveals the extent of personal ambition among the leadership of this defeated, opportunistic political bloc ambitions that far exceed the hopes of the Sudanese uprising they climbed atop when the protests erupted. It is time for our Sudanese people to wake up and rise with full awareness.

To this band of opportunists, I say: The sun of Sudan’s modern revolution will not set because of your shadows.

This message has been at the heart of everything I’ve written more than 300 pages of essays in both Arabic and English since the escalation of Sudan’s revolution. All of it has aimed to expose the conspiracy against Sudan, especially its political dimensions and to unmask the opportunists who hijacked the revolution from within. These are individuals who climbed the ranks of the uprising through the protests, skilled at seizing opportunity and manipulating their way into revolutionary legitimacy.

They used deception and smoke screens to earn the revolution’s mandate only to later justify their pursuit of so-called solutions through negotiation, foreign mediation, and deals with killers from the so-called Military Council and Janjaweed militias.

September 24, 2019: The Power-Hungry Are Not Revolutionaries... They Are Swallowing the Revolution

The first signs of defeat and surrender to the killers in the Military Council and the Janjaweed began with accepting the involvement of a foreign, biased mediator; followed by negotiations with an illegitimate council from a position of weakness; and ultimately by agreeing to terms dictated by the killers, many of which were embedded in the political agreement between them.

Despite the stalling, maneuvering, and fabrication that marred the Sudanese negotiations between what is called the Forces of Freedom and Change - a bloc that cannot represent the revolution of Sudanese youth - and the killers in the Military Council and Janjaweed, who seized power from the toppled regime in a fabricated "transition" benefitting the Sudanese wing of the Muslim Brotherhood, the truth remains:

Those who negotiated in the name of the Sudanese uprising have reached a deal with the killers that buries the revolution.

This is an agreement that must not be accepted by the revolutionaries. They must demand to see it publicly, and they must reject it unequivocally.

That is the tragedy of Sudan today: not just the betrayal, but the betrayal at the hands of those the youth believed were their allies and representatives.
