Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation!

Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation was not just a hope, or a promise, when I wrote the collection of poetry in my poetry book "The Rising of the Phoenix", which includes some of my emotional, political, Sofi and surrealistic poems I wrote in 1979-1982.

Rising of The Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation: Poet and veteran activist and journalist Khalid Osman first penned this piece in 1979, envisioning the rebirth of Sudan within its true, recognized borders. It was published two years later, in 1981, in Kuwait's Al-Watan newspaper, following his escape from the oppressive regime of Jaafar Neimeri... a moment that marked both personal exile and literary defiance.Rising of The Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation: Poet and veteran activist and journalist Khalid Osman first penned this piece in 1979, envisioning the rebirth of Sudan within its true, recognized borders. So, Rising of the Phoenix From the ashes of regret, memory ignites. What began as a reflection has now split wide open, revealing deeper truths embedded in the very phrases I once passed over. The Sudanese wounds are not silent, they echo, louder with each revisit, each image, each unfinished sentence. This section is no continuation. It is a rising.

Here, we follow the threads that emerged from what seemed complete threads of identity, exile, betrayal, and buried strength. This is where logic meets grief, and pain becomes purpose. The Sudanese soul may have cracked, but from within the fracture, fire glows.

Let these pages be the plume of smoke before flight. Let them be the cry before return.

Rising of the Phoenix: From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation Continues!

It is not only about these poems I wrote on the Rising of the Phoenix and as I imagine other Sudanese poets have also done great for the nation. So, although I hear some referring to me as Phoenix, I am not the only one. There are many Phoenix out there. If you are one of them connect with me for this unfortunately land to rebirth.

For decades, Sudanese poets have written not to escape reality, but to shape it, to carve out space for hope amid ruin, to resist silence with verse, and to remember what regimes tried to erase. In a country shattered by power struggles, famine, and forced forgetting, poetry becomes both medicine and map reminding Sudan of who it was, and who it still dares to be.

✍🏾 Poets as Nation-Builders

Muhammad al-Mahdi Majzoub, Muhammad al-Fayturi, and many like them planted lines in exile and in Sudanese soil that still bloom today verses about Black pride, African identity, justice, and self-worth.

Sudanese poets of the diaspora, like myself, have crafted "wounded geographies", where the homeland is never distant, only waiting.

Poetry is not a luxury in this context, it is a blueprint. Not theory, but revolution. Not nostalgia, but reconstruction by rhythm.

> "We rose not to be remembered / but to remember ourselves."

🔥 The Necessity of the Poetic Soul

In the wake of devastation, the temptation is to rebuild with concrete and constitution alone. But that forgets the inner musculature of a nation... the soul.

Sudan needs its poetic spirit because:

Poetry tenders trauma into strength... it dignifies grief without dismissing it.

It allows multiple truths to coexist - ethnic, linguistic, generational - without reduction.

Poets keep history warm, even when textbooks lie, the stanza remembers.

When I say "the phoenix must rise"," it cannot rise from rubble alone. It must rise from metaphor... from emotional literacy, symbolic clarity, and cultural fluency. Otherwise, what rises may be a state, but not a nation.

🌍 Global Echoes: The Poem as Precursor to Protest

Sudan's use of poetry in political awakening echoes global moments:

Country

Chile

Poet(s)

Pablo Neruda

Role of Poetry in National Struggle

Used verse to denounce dictatorship and elevate collective memory

Palestine

Mahmoud Darwish

Turned dispossession into lyrical resistance

South Africa

Dennis Brutus, Mzwakhe Mbuli

Fused verse with anti-apartheid activism

Ireland

USA (Harlem Renaissance)

W.B. Yeats

Langston Hughes, Gwendolyn Brooks

Chronicled identity and rebellion through mythic nationalism

Used metaphor to demand justice, belonging, and beauty for Black life

These aren't poets of retreat, they're poets of reformation. Sudan is no different.

🕊 Sudan’s Poetic Future Is Its Political Future

I’ve said it before: Sudanese poets have been writing toward rebirth for over 50 years, even when no regime listened. That perseverance is the phoenix. It's time not just to cite them, but to build institutions that read them aloud.

Imagine:

A public memorial project pairing poetry with lost villages.

A national curriculum that includes contemporary resistance poetry.

A cultural council that treats verse as a diplomatic and reconciliatory tool.

These aren't luxuries. They're infrastructure of spirit. Because to survive as a people, Sudan must not only defend its borders, it must revive its voice.

The Poets Who Never Stopped Writing Sudan Into Existence!

Some revolutions begin with a banner. Others with a verse whispered beneath censorship. Sudan's may have begun with both. For more than half a century, Sudanese poets have written the country not only as it was, but as it could be... a nation sovereign in its dignity, proud in its Africanness, relentless in its longing.

Even when power collapsed and memory was scattered, poetry remained. It crossed borders when people couldn't. It built maps when cartographers betrayed them. It remembered names long after regimes made forgetting a doctrine.

🖋 Not Just Poets... Architects of Spirit

Muhammad al-Fayturi: His verses are still thunder. Born in Sudan, raised in Egypt and Libya, al-Fayturi wrote the soul of Sudan as Black, proud, and divine. In "I Am the African" he declared: > "I will not beg / I will not kneel". His poetry didn't ask for inclusion... it announced it.

Mahjoub Sharif: Known as the "people's poet", Mahjoub's verses were plain, fierce, and beloved. From prison cells to protest squares, his words traveled faster than any edict. He turned satire into survival.

Mohammed al-Makki Ibrahim, Siddiq al-Fadil, Rawda Al-Hajj, Tayeb Salih (in prose-poetic lineage): they each held parts of Sudan's psyche in femininity, loss, regional memory, and metaphysical resistance.

And now poets like me, Khalid Mohammed Osman, who have not seen his burning home for soooo long years and who've written across decades and exiles, carry that fire forward. A fire not of destruction, but of intimate reconstruction.

📜 What Their Poetry Did (and Still Does)

Held space when politics refused to:

Named dignity where state erased it.

Connected Sudan to Africa, not as periphery but as pulse.

Translated suffering into purpose, not despair.

Taught generations to speak not just in demands, but in rhythms.

In a Sudan where maps are stolen and names redacted, poetry remains the most reliable cartographer.

🌍 Echoes in Struggle, Globally

Sudan is not alone in this tradition. Its poets join a chorus that defied oppression:

South Africa

Ingrid Jonker, Keorapetse Kgositsile

Turned apartheid into burning stanzas

Chile

Raúl Zurita

Carved resistance poems across the desert after dictatorship

Syria

Adunis

Made metaphysics a mirror to tyranny

Russia

Vladimir Mayakovsky

Pushkin

Wielded avant-garde verse for revolution, later became a cautionary symbol

Wrote Ode to Liberty, which led to his exile; fused Romanticism with critique of imperial power

China

Ai Qing

Wrote proletarian poetry after years in prison, embedding defiance in nature

North Korea

Kim Kyong Ran (exile poet)

Cho Ki-chon

Confronts authoritarianism with lyrical witness from afar

Penned Mt. Paektu, glorified Kim Il Sung’s guerrilla legacy, shaped DPRK’s literary institutions

These poets do not decorate pain.
They redefine it, remake it, and ask it to dance in full view.

🔥 Poetry Wasn't a Detour - It Was the Road Itself

These poets didn't follow revolutions. They preceded them. In many cases, they survived where others didn't. And they never stopped writing Sudan into being, not out of hope, always, but sometimes out of muscle memory. Because some nations are only kept alive by those who say their name enough times until the world has to listen again.

> Sudanese poets wrote Sudan before the nation knew itself. > They write still because the story isn't finished.

Phoenix: A Nation Waiting to Be Written Again!

In the West, the phoenix is a bird that burns, then rises. In Sudan, it is a poet writing verses on a cigarette carton, a protestor calling out a name that power tried to erase, a mother singing her child into survival. It is not myth. It is method... the practice of becoming whole again.

As Sudan reels from decades of fragmentation and forced forgetting, it is not only infrastructure that must be rebuilt, it is the spirit of the story. And that story, for many, begins in poetry.

🔥 The Phoenix as Practice

To rise like a phoenix is not about flames. It is about memory. The ability to say:

We are more than the states that failed us.

We remember borders before they were stolen.

We are made of grief, but we are not made to grieve forever.

And how is such a narrative revived? Through verse. Through rhythm. Through refusal woven into metaphor. Poetry, here, isn't an aesthetic luxury. It's resurrection strategy.

✍🏽 When the Pen Becomes a Spine

For 50 years and more, Sudanese poets have held the nation's spine straight when institutions bent or crumbled.

In exile, they reassembled the country from memory.

In prison, they whispered verses that survived beatings.

In protest, they rhymed dignity louder than any gunshot.

In diaspora, they carried their homeland not in passports, but in lines.

They are not cultural figures. They are national infrastructure, memory keepers, resistance cartographers, re-dreamers.

🧭 Poetry Is How Sudan Might Know Itself Again

This devastated land does not lack courage. It lacks a canvas that holds that courage's shape. And poems with their ability to hold paradox, pain, love, nationhood, exile, and breath in a single stanza become the only form big enough to contain all that Sudan is.

So when we say the Phoenix must rise, let's not just await political calm. Let's ask the nation to do what it's already doing quietly:

Write itself.

Name itself.

Rise, not from fire, but from language carried through fire.

Why Sudan Must Read Its Poets to Rebuild Its State?

In the ruins left by regimes and rivalries, there are always two reconstructions: the one made of cement and scaffolding, and the one made of story and spirit. Sudan, battered by fragmentation, grief, and failed transitions, will need both. But only one can remind it who it is. That one begins with the poets.

🧠 Memory Is National Infrastructure

When borders are contested and archives erased, poetry becomes memory's last safehouse. It tells us:

Where the rivers used to speak.

What languages power tried to erase.

Which griefs were never named, and which dreams still flicker.

Without this, any political document becomes a skeleton with no breath. Sudan must read its poets, not for decoration, but for direction.

> "A nation that forgets its metaphor forgets its meaning."

📚 The Poets Are Already Nation Builders

In a functioning state, poets aren't just cultural figures. They are:

Memory workers: archiving loss and identity.

Vision architects: sketching futures when policy fails.

Emotional translators: turning mass trauma into shared narrative.

Spiritual legislators: shaping a deeper kind of belonging.

These are roles no ministry alone can perform. And they are roles Sudanese poets have already been doing for generations, often unpaid, unrecognized, and yet unwavering.

🌍 Imagine a Sudan That Takes Poetry Seriously

What if:

The new constitution opens with a verse long loved by the people.

Public libraries are rebuilt with Sudanese verse etched into stone.

Young poets are funded not as fringe artists, but as national memory bearers.

Poetry is used in conflict resolution, allowing communities to grieve and reunite with dignity.

This is not fantasy. In Rwanda's post-genocide healing, poetry circles helped survivors regain voice. In South Africa, poets were invited to read before transitional court sessions. Sudan has its own rhythms... they must now rise.

🔥 A Final Line for a New Beginning

To rebuild Sudan is not just to draw new laws. It is to ask:

> What songs survived the war? > Which stanzas outlived the generals? > Who still remembers the name of the village that no longer exists on maps?

The answers are there in the poets’ lines, waiting to be read like blueprints.

It is also in my Action Guide, as it breathes the mantra of the rebirth.

The Global Dynamics Criticize the World Changing Policies & Promise Solutions!

Changing policies makes the world unstable. Refining policies also didn't hep solving the problems we have in the world. Global warming exacerbates, Coronavirus is still developing uncertainty about health issues, space invasion still harm the ecosystem, broxy wars and the cat claws of international terrorism changes names and strategies, the world is still unrest.

The Global Dynamics explore and anaylze all of these world problems and provide promising solutions. They have an Action Guide that would save the world and change it if implemented correctly. The point is in building the grassroots for change.

The Action Guide Walks to Shift World Dynamics & Make a Difference!

The starting actions to Build Yourself a System of Power that Can Save the World From Political Catastrophes are here at the Action Guide with the following steps to join the Horn Africa's Network to be acquainted with it, the basic foundation of the Principles of Citizen Journalism that Can Save the World From Political Catastrophes and they let you know in additional to all of that more basic information about the press media principles that encouraged me to create the LPE of the Masses' Era with its mind-blowing solutions to global political catastrophes. Not withstanding this, the generator of the Action Guide itself are the Global Dynamics. The Global Dynamics are actually generated with the first I started to examine how these dynamics which I have invented can change the world. The proofs of optimal success lie in the success of the experimental project:

To become a good activist and maybe a leader of one of the associations of the world masses, as you learned from the slogans of the political campaigns on "Citizen Journalism that Can Save the World From Political Catastrophes", fill out the 'Contact Us' form. Be sure to let me know that you've read "Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation", as well as the Global Dynamics. Show me that you understood what you read about the crises of the world along with the highlighted solutions through "Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation" and would like to create, or join one of the global masses associations. Let me know more about that you have learned well and so you decided to join and create the ERA OF THE MASSES.

Sign up for "Intelligentsia Multimedia Newspaper Revolutionizes Knowledge" by filling the form on this section of the "Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation" and submit it. This is a double-opt-in list to prevent someone who knows your email address from subscribing you, without having you to know about it. Check an email with a confirmation link, I'll send to you. If you didn't find it in your incoming emails box, please check your junk folder and move it to your inbox folder.

Motivate them to read it and join the pioneering solutions to global crises, and take the same actions outlined in the "Action Guide".

You make your move, they make their moves with you. The point is that it is so important to work with them, so that more friends and "friends of their friends" join the discussion about global crises, political shallowness, the lack of political depth and know the guidelines of the World Social Revolution, which is a reflection of credibility of "Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation". You should at least make a few hundred friends as contacts to explain to them everything you have learned and understood from "Build Yourself a System of Power".

Setup a time to work in this project and arrange your contacts systematically into lists with basic information about each one of your contacts, such as name, age, gender, profession, email address and location. In this way, you will guide, organize and teach them as you have been taught into groups to carry out the process to build everyone a system of power, inspired by "Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation". I will let you know the specifications of these groups. Upon completion, please use the contact form to forward this information to me. You should have their consent, first. Then use the same "Contact Us" form to tell me you've done the first process and wait for further instructions.

Write your comments on "Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation" - The comments form is at the end of the page - and provide details on them. Such revolution doesn't need a weapon, it needs minds. Share your page when it is published.

Share the links on "Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation" and share the pictures of the global political campaigns on good websites. These images are on the first pages of the Global Dynamics I published earlier. Please don't do this on the social media of Facebook because it is a capitalist umbrella and more and if you want to know what's more, I will tell you, only when you ask and I will even show you methods to conquer any big social media, except Twitter.

Distribute the links of the videos you watch on "Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation" and hang the posters of the Global Revolution in public places. Let me know what you think of "Rising of the Phoenix From Poetry to the Real Life of a Nation"?

Many years ago, I launched a network for poets and literary writers... a space born from my enduring vision to build movements. Long before Sudan's youth ignited their revolution, I had already called on them to take action ven preceding the Shararah movement. That initial spark was part of my work in coordinating the Sudanese opposition abroad, where I stood firmly against the entrenched leadership of aging figures who insisted on remaining in control.

Though I am of their generation, I've never believed that elders should lead indefinitely. Their grip on power has contributed to Sudan's failures since independence, and I was the first to voice that truth aloud.

In the realm of the Global Dynamics I envisioned, it is the youth who must rise to lead this world. The time for old dancers, myself included, to remain at the forefront has passed. I entrust these dynamics to the younger generation; the path ahead belongs to them.

As for me, I'm content with what I have: my freedom. I no longer seek roles of leadership. My focus is on creating and writing, pursuing the truths I believe in with every word.
