It doesn't compare with any other movements in Africa in terms of the long time of the struggle, the principles, the goals and the massive power Ethiopia had, which was supported during the empirical time of Haile Selassie by western imperialists and during the Darq of Mengistu Haile Mariam by the Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR). The EPLF had nothing more than its self-dependency and self-trust, which were proved to be exactly correct. So, how did it succeed? That was the greatness of it.

In fact this was what I had been concerned about and concentrated on during the seventies, at the time that Sudanese considered the Eritrean boys and girls that they used to see on the streets of Khartoum, Medani, Gadarif and Kassala wearing shorts, their hairs were jup-jup and the girls were cutting their hairs to look like boys as (...), when I was first knew and connected to the Eritrean People's Liberation Front.

Omar Bashir, an Eritrean fighter was there leading the office of the front in Kuwait, working in hard situations to get attention to the Eritrean cause and to his front in particular. I followed by coverage to the Eritrean cause. A time later, Omar Bashir went to Sudan and Abdullah Gabir took the office of the front. They told him about my journalistic activities.

He came to me in the newspaper to introduce himself as the new leader of the office of the EPLF and so the cooperation went further with more energies, as he was very active and radical. I learned from him many stories in the liberation field, including the capture of the Soviet military experts, after one of the fights. I am writing this, so that points in Eritrean history shouldn't be forgotten.
