Somali Famine is Over!

by Hersi

A third of the remaining Somalia's population is still in the crisis zone, although the Food and Agriculture Organization declared that Somalia is famine free and the United Nations said efforts made by relief organizations in Somalia accompanied by strong harvest have eliminated hunger and ended the famine.

The famine alone has killed hundreds of thousand Somalis, last year. The reports mentioned tens of thousands to be killed by the famine. Research the real numbers. The rains during the last good agricultural seasons have helped much in providing enough food security to the hungry Somalis. The food agencies offered supplies of food to cover the food shortages.

Observers afraid that the broken country may revert to the previously experienced famine in the coming 3 months, when the food stocks run out, unless more food emergencies have been made and more lands have been used to produce more crops.

Remaining Somali farmers need more materialized help and security help to prepare more lands for good harvests.
