Poetry as Characteristic Writing!

The insights of HOA's English Poetry have started at the linked page along with English Poetry. Here is the third part of the insights.

When we say an art is characteristic that doesn't mean the definition of that art, but the specifications of that art. This goes also to poetry, as such as a characteristic feature of literature. As a genre of literature, poetry has also characteristic features that define it as poetry.

These features are formed of forms of poetry and structure of poetry. I have spoken about this in the series of the literary educational videos. Poetry has also different genre. I don't call these genres, as forms, as I found perhaps that might be a misconception, like for example putting the genres of poetry as forms and saying that there are 15 forms of poetry, like blank poetry, rhymed poetry, free poetry et cetera...

These specified forms are genres of poetry and that means also genres of genres of literature. The forms are other definitions of genres, when they define the complete styles (such as in any model design), but they are not the right genres of poetry, as long as we are speaking about the specifications of poetry, as characteristic writing.

Well, this is a philosophy... you might like to discuss through the comments form on this page.

Interestingly, many professional writers claim that the characteristic writing should be intended for an intended audience. It doesn't necessarily for any writer to write any writing to be intended for any audience. A good writer can write only for the pleasure of writing, even about himself, which is not intended for anyone, but only himself. He or she is the audience of his or her writing.

It doesn't necessary to have a table of content to make that writing characteristic. Creative writing can take many different directions and approaches.
