Canada, the EU and the Troika Warn Sudan Government!

Canada, the EU and the Troika released joint statement warning Sudan Government to stop political detentions and censorship of newspapers.
The given international pressure groups expressed their concerns yesterday about the detention, apparently without charges, of a number of political leaders, either in anticipation of protests, or having protested government economic moves.
The political statements issued the awareness of the mentioned international pressure groups of the Sudanese authorities seizing newspapers and engaging in other forms of censorship, allegedly for reporting on expression of political views.
The arrest of political leaders for non-violent dissent risks hindering efforts for an inclusive National Dialogue that involves all the relevant political forces in Sudan in line with the African Union Roadmap, which we all support.
We call on the Sudanese authorities to allow the people to exercise their right to freedom of expression. At the same time, we urge those exercising their fundamental rights to express their opinions peacefully.

أعرب أعضاء الترويكا (النرويج والمملكة المتحدة والولايات المتحدة) والاتحاد الأوروبي (فرنسا، ألمانيا، إيطاليا، هولندا، النرويج، رومانيا، اسبانيا، السويد و المملكة المتحدة) وكندا، أعربوا عن قلقهم إزاء إعتقالات امن النظام الديكتاتوري الكيزاني لعدد من القادة السياسيين من دون توجيه إتهامات لهم، إما تحسباً لاحتجاجات أو لاحتجاجاتهم ضد اجرأءت الحكومة الاقتصادية.
واشار البيان المشترك الي ان هذه القوي من مجموعات الضغط الدولي "علي علم بمصادرة السلطات السودانية للصحف والانخراط في أشكال أخرى من الرقابة لحجب الآراء السياسية" في سياسات الحكومة ومنها السياسات الاقتصادية.
وقال البيان "إن اعتقال الزعماء السياسيين اثناء الاعتراض السلمي علي بعض الاجراءات الحكومية يعيق جهود الحوار الوطني الشامل لجميع القوى السياسية المعنية في السودان والتي تتسق مع خارطة طريق ألاتحاد الأفريقي، والتي نجمع في تأييدها".
وحثّت مجموعة الضغط الدولية السلطات السودانية علي السماح للمواطنين السودانيين بممارسة حقهم في حرية التعبير، كما حثّ البيان في ذات الوقت السياسيين السودانيين الذين يمارسون حقوقهم الأساسية علي أن يعبروا عن آرائهم بشكل سلمي.
