Where's the Truth?
by: Anonymous

The UK Telegraph reported citing the Ethiopian authorities concerning the Ethiopian accusation to Eritrea of waging a proxy war in the Horn of Africa, that gunmen kidnapped two Germans and two Ethiopians and took them across the northern border to Eritrea.

The British newspaper said that an Austrian, two German and two Hungarians were killed during an attack on 22 European tourists on the third week of January while they were visiting the Afar desert and the Danakil Depression.

The Canadian Vancouver Sun said the attach led by the gunmen occurred near the Ethiopian Erta Ale volcano in the Afar Depression. Ethiopia accused Eritrea and Eritrea denied any kind of involvement in the attack.

Two Belgian and one British were seriously injured in the attack. The wounded British was lifted to Addis Ababa from an airstrip in the area and then taken to a hospital in Nairobi for more medical care and he has survived.

What the readers of this blog think of such news?
Why is the full truth always absent in such media?
Who really wages a proxy war in the Horn of Africa?

Eritrea is Innocent Regarding Somalia!
by: Wad Sheikh

Eritrea is innocent in spite of the Kenyan Allegations!

Regarding the issue of the Kenyan accusation last year, the United Nations Monitoring Group confirmed in its report that there's not sufficient evidence to confirm the Kenyan allegations.

The group was established by the Security Council to monitor violations of arms embargo imposed on Somalia.

Matt Bryden, the coordinator of the group said the "multiple credible reports show no flights have taken place at the time specified."

Ambassador Araya Desta, the Eritrean envoy to the United Nations stressed that his country has often maintained its innocence over such accusations and said, "We have never had any time or situation where we have been supporting the al-Shabab or any other group in Somalia because that is against our own political stance."

He expressed his country's beliefs and said clearly, "the Somali issue could not be solved military. We have been continuously saying that Somalis should be given a venue to discuss their own issues and that the solutions should come from the Somalis themselves."

That is very clear. However, well known accusers from the neighboring countries have their agendas to destabilize not only Somalia, but the entire Horn of Africa. Instead of working hard to help the Somalis, they play each from its side the fragmentation of a sovereign country, whether by conspiracies or by direct military innovations.

How Could any Force Surround Eritrea from Somalia?
by: Anonymous

I didn't understand the last words you wrote in the second paragraph. You said in these words, "especially, when some regimes try to row and surround it". How could any force surround Eritrea from Somalia?

The southern Somalia is far away from Eritrea bordering Ethiopia at the east. Just look at the map. You could of course say there are some threats imposed on Eritrea from foreign troops in Somalia.

However, such scheme has no direct threats, until this force control Somalia and get access to the sea. If these troops were in Sudan or Djibouti, then there could be some threats, but not "surrounding", because that is in fact has no factual proofs.

The broken sovereignty of Somalia is result of the conduct of the Somalis. It is not strange when brothers involve in fighting against each other, the country faces fractional schemes. It is best for Somalis to work hard politically towards building secular state.

Acts Against Security Threats are Justified!
by: Tesfai G/Maryam

Security threats imposed against any sovereign state in the Horn of Africa are wrong. Eritrea appears to be the target of some regimes in the area because of its ambitious revolutionary goals.

Those threats are biased by some regimes to get Eritrea involved in many acts to defend its territories, especially when some regimes try to row and surround it.

The Eritrean people have always expressed their will to go wherever they could to topple any attempt imposed against them from any land. So, apparently there are no serious regional attempt to resolve this problem. You cannot just wait inside your land until they attack you from a broken land.

It is like a chaos, that planned by some other regimes to get Eritrea involved in such acts to defend its land. However, working with the rebel in Somalia is just difficult to believe, as a fact, that revolutionary leaders in Eritrea can go that way.
